Robust structured light in atmospheric turbulence

چکیده
Structured light is routinely used in free-space optical communication channels, both classical and quantum, where information encoded the spatial structure of mode for increased bandwidth. Both real-world experimentally simulated turbulence conditions have revealed that structured modes are perturbed some manner by turbulence, resulting amplitude phase distortions, consequently, much attention has focused on whether one type more robust than another, but with seemingly inconclusive contradictory results. We present complex forms invariant under propagation through atmosphere: true eigenmodes atmospheric turbulence. provide a theoretical procedure obtaining these confirm their invariance numerically experimentally. Although we demonstrated approach its generality allows it to be extended other channels too, such as aberrated paths, underwater, fiber.

Double-Star Detection Using Convolutional Neural Network in Atmospheric Turbulence
In this paper, we investigate the usage of machine learning in the detection and recognition of double stars. To do this, numerous images including one star and double stars are simulated. Then, 100 terms of Zernike expansion with random coefficients are considered as aberrations to impose on the aforementioned images. Also, a telescope with a specific aperture is simulated. In this work, two k...
متن کاملRobust Automatic Surface Reconstruction with Structured Light
For the measurement of surfaces of close range objects, which do not show sufficient surface texture, an automatic system based on the projection of structured light has been developed. An off-the-shelf slide projector projects chromium slides with a regular dot pattern of 800 ... 8000 dots and perfectly binary transparency characteristics onto a surface. For robust point determination the obje...
متن کاملMeasurement of Atmospheric Turbulence
How light and sound propagate through the optically clear atmosphere has been of interest to children, philosophers, scientists, and engineers since antiquity. The quantum leap in our understanding of wave propagation through the turbulent atmosphere, however, came with the pioneering work by Valeryan Tatarskii and collaborators in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Their work enhanced dramatically our abi...
متن کاملColor-Stripe Structured Light Robust to Surface Color and Discontinuity
Multiple color stripes have been employed for structured light-based rapid range imaging to increase the number of uniquely identifiable stripes. The use of multiple color stripes poses two problems: (1) object surface color may disturb the stripe color and (2) the number of adjacent stripes required for identifying a stripe may not be maintained near surface discontinuities such as occluding b...
متن کاملThe Atmospheric Wave–Turbulence Jigsaw
It was a huge honour to be asked to give the Marshall Rosenbluth Memorial Lecture. Having never worked on plasma physics, though, I also feel some diffidence! The closest I’ve ever come has been involvement in some peculiar MHD problems that promise an improved understanding of the solar tachocline — more about confining a magnetic field within a plasma than a plasma within a magnetic field. Be...
